Students are encouraged to apply for the various scholarships mentioned under the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) as per the eligibility criteria of the respective scheme.

National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students The National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST), thereby encouraging them to pursue higher education. Students who wish to avail the benefits of this scheme must submit their application through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The portal is now open for applications for the academic year 2025–2026.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs Scholarship (ST) The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, invites applications for the National Scholarship for Higher Education for Scheduled Tribe students.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Scholarship (SC) The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India invites applications for the National Scholarship for Higher Education for Scheduled Caste students from Meritorious SC students.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) A person having not less than 40% disability and having a disability certificate issued by any competent medical authority, may apply.

Department of Higher Education Scheme The Department of Higher Education invites applications for the CENTRAL SECTOR SCHEME OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS (PM-USP CSSS)

UGC Scheme The University Grants Commission invites application for NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDIES. The scholarship is available to the students for the first PG Degree programme only.

Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of India implements different schemes to provide financial support to meritorious students so that financial constraints do not prevent any youth of India from pursuing quality higher education. The Govt. of Kerala disburses Scholarships, and Schemes through Pre-matric and Post-matric Students of SC, ST & OBC community in the state of Kerala through www.egrantz.kerala.gov.in. Through a single registration, the system could uniquely identify a student and the basic detail shall be used for the disbursement of educational assistance throughout the period of education under various schemes.

Department of Science and Technology Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research Scheme Scholarship for Higher Education (INSPIRE- SHE) Scheme: Meritorious BSMS Students with aggregate marks within top 1% of their Class XII examination of any State/Central Board (same year of admission) in India are eligible.

Vinita Balagopal Chandrasekhar (VBC) Fellowship

The VBC Fellowship aims to support meritorious students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds by covering tuition fees.
Indicative Eligibility:
  • Open to BS-MS and MSc students at IISER Thiruvananthapuram
  • Annual family income must be ≤ ₹8 lakh (EWS criteria)
  • Minimum CGPA: 5.0/10 (must be maintained throughout)
  • Students receiving other tuition fee waivers are not eligible
Tentative Amount/Support: Covers full or partial tuition fees

Student Friendship Fund Scholarships (SFFS)

SFFS provides need-based financial support through two scholarship types: Sustenance Scholarships and Tuition-Free Scholarships.
Indicative Eligibility:
  • Open to financially disadvantaged, meritorious students
  • Criteria broadly similar to the VBC Fellowship
Tentative Amount/Support: May include tuition support or monthly sustenance scholarship of Rs 40,000/- approx.

SBI Udaan Scholarship

Sponsored by the State Bank of India, this scholarship supports deserving students from weaker economic backgrounds.
Indicative Eligibility:
  • Open to BS-MS and MSc students
  • Annual family income must be ≤ ₹5 lakh (income certificate mandatory)
  • Minimum CGPA: 6.0/10
Tentative Amount/Support: Amount may vary annually; typically supports tuition or living expenses (exact amount subject to SBI guidelines)

Canara Bank Laptop Scheme

A scheme to provide laptops to financially disadvantaged students to aid in their academic activities.
Indicative Eligibility:
  • Open to 1st and 2nd-year BS-MS students
  • Annual family income must be ≤ ₹5 lakh (income certificate mandatory)
  • Minimum CGPA: 6.0/10
Tentative Amount/Support: Provision of a laptop (one-time benefit)

Shravan Foundation Scholarships

The Shravan Foundation offers scholarships to undergraduate students from impoverished socio-economic backgrounds to support their academic journey.
Indicative Eligibility:
  • Open to 1st and 2nd-year BS-MS students
  • Annual family income must be < ₹2.5 lakh
  • No backlogs in the previous semester
  • Must demonstrate financial need and have limited access to other funding
Tentative Amount/Support: Up to ₹25,000 per semester (maximum); supports up to 40 students
